The Indiana News Celebrates Women in Business and Politics

This week’s Indiana News features three candidates for U.S. Senate, each offering their take on the issues affecting the state, such as inflation and the economy. The paper also features regular columns about politics and dogs. The paper also celebrates women in the arts, business, community and public service, as well as those who hold leadership positions in government and business.

Women of Influence honorees

The Women of Influence awards, presented by the Indianapolis Business Journal, honor Indianapolis’ most accomplished women in business. These honorees span public and private sectors and are among the top executives in their fields. The newspaper also profiles these honorees and presents them at a special breakfast event.

Shackleford has been representing the east side of Indianapolis in the Indiana House for 10 years. She serves on the House Public Health Committee and the Committee on Courts and Criminal Code. Most recently, she became the chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus, a group of minority Hoosiers who push for legislation that improves economic opportunities for minority Hoosiers. Her achievements have earned her recognition in the state legislature and the national arena.
